The easiest way to sell online

Jess Gibson
Jess Gibson

These days, we’re inundated with the different ways that we can earn money selling things online. Just over the past year alone, hundreds – maybe even thousands – of platforms, apps, and sites have formulated ways for the average person to make a bit of extra cash on the side, or as a main job. The trouble with this, though, is that many of these have endless lists of guidelines and ‘small print’ that make the whole process lengthier, more costly, and, in the end, less profitable overall.

Additionally, many of these new selling apps and sites appear easy at first, only to quickly become time-consuming as they are merely a host for sellers, as opposed to a dedicated platform focused on customer service and satisfaction that also seeks to benefit the seller too. There are hidden costs, a lack of regulation, and limited capabilities that can render the whole process more trouble than it’s worth.

With William George however, these sorts of problems are nowhere to be found. No hidden costs, devoted to customer service and honesty, and easy to use without undisclosed caveats, our online auctions are by far the easiest and most satisfying way of selling items to a large customer base.

Not only do our auctions last for a matter of weeks as opposed to hours (thus reducing the stress levels of sellers) and feature unique items, but neither sellers nor buyers have any obligation to remain glued to the auction at hand in order to gain activity updates. Even better, much of the communication between buyers and sellers is handled by us, where you can be assured that all account managers and customer communications are professional, informative and polite. What’s not to love?

Set up an account

The first step is simple: go on to our Seller’s Hub and sign up to get started with a dedicated account. There are three stages that come up, asking you to input personal details before receiving a verification code to confirm them.

Once you have created a verified account, you can start listing your items!

Look at what’s on offer

To understand the best items to sell – and which items are subject to a higher reserve price – it’s worth scanning through current and upcoming auctions. This will help you to establish the items that are most likely to sell, what you should aim for with regards to reserve prices, and the detail with which to describe your items (as well as the pictures you should include alongside the description).

Sort out your sellable wares

Once you’ve got an idea of the types of items that tend to sell well at online auctions, you can build up your catalogue to suit consumer needs and desires.

If you’re looking to shift some relatively unused but high-quality pieces from your own collection, then you are aware of the standard required for sale at auction; if you are a creative type designing art, jewellery, or crafts, or have your own business to continue building, you have plenty of good examples helping you to market your wares at online auctions effectively so as to gain the best prices and guarantee a sale.

Taking clear, detailed photographs – both close-up and further away – accompanied by a description that features all the key pieces of information a bidder needs, will encourage bidders and mark you as a trustworthy seller to prospective customers in future.

List in a collective auction

If you’re only looking to sell a small number of items, you can list your pieces in a collective auction. The beauty of this is that not only are you being given a relatively simple way of earning some money for your unwanted or duplicate items, but you get to list for nothing – that’s right, in a collective auction, you pay no fees whatsoever and as with all our auctions, you keep 100% of the hammer.

Wait for the bids to roll in

Once your account has been created, your items listed, and all the information that’s needed is accompanying your lots, you’re good to go. We’ll get your good exposure in front of a large audience and all that’s left for you to do is sit back and wait for the bids to come rolling in! Easy, simple, satisfying.

Both you and the bidders will receive regular updates regarding your collection and any new top bids and will be notified prior to the end of the auction. Once your item has been successfully delivered, the funds will be released into your account and the listing removed. What more could you want?!
